Full Job Description
Position
Summary: Maintain and review student accounts records: prepare journal entries
that affect tuition/fees; research and determine adjustments including
temporary clearances and interest calculations. Authorize registration and
transcript overrides to student accounts; transmit student account information
to other University offices. Reconcile charges and payments; recommend
deferments, temporary clearances, and interest and finance charge waivers for
students in arrears. Serve as primary source of information on policies,
procedures, tuition accounts, methods of payment, payment plans, and provide
general and more specialized information. Respond to complex customer service
inquires displaying a comprehensive knowledge of departmental and University
policies and procedures. Interact with the general public as NYU liaison and
with University personnel to resolve issues and problems. Prepare a variety of
reports; compile statistics and summarize data. Assist with registration.
Provide support services to other Washington Square Bursar's Office areas.
Qualifications: Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
N/A
Required Experience:
3 years' related experience. Experience providing customer service.
Preferred Experience:
2 years of office experience (with Associate's degree). 1 year of office
experience (with Bachelor's degree). Experience working in a University Bursar
department or financial firm processing a high volume of transactions.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Advanced-level skills with Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of financial
software applications.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Advanced level customer care and communication skills (i.e. written and
verbal).
